Laser Harp was created in December 2014 for Sound & Vision class at NYU Shanghai, inspired by a Coldplay live performance. I used 8 light sensors that connect to Arduino digital I/O pins and 8 small lasers that connect to 5V power pin. When the laser beams are blocked, similar to the strings of a harp being plucked, the digital read of the related light sensors will change and sounds will be produced. Sounds are produced by Max/MSP, and the serial communication is accopmlished by Arduino2Max. A fog machine makes the laser beams visible. The black boards are cut by a laser cutter.
